Filming...

Long Lane:
Another date for the group to film has been arranged for during the half term week. We are going to meet outside a 1950's style cafe on Long Lane at 10am on Wednesday 23rd February. Here we plan to film several key shots including possibly flash-black scenes.

Throughout the course of the day we also plan to visit a variety of other locations.

Feedback...

Post-Review:
The main focus of our progress review was largely to analyse our print work but the production of the music video was also discussed along with our blogs.

To the meeting, each member ofthe group had to ensure that they brough two print-outs of their ancillary tasks to present for feedback. At this point in time, our ancillary tasks are not yet finished though they are gradually nearing completion. Both our teachers assured the group as a whole that our work was of a very high standard butcollectively we were lacking a consistent theme that tied the products together. This was the first area of improvement we discussed.

Improvements for my ancillary tasks were as follows:

Billboard:
  • Fill some of the 'dead space.'
  • Tidy up the blurring effect on the background image.
Tour Poster:
  • Change the large Impact font.
  • Re-think the key image.
  • Use the VC logo on the design.

It was then suggested by my teachers that I group the billboard & tour poster together as one task rather than as two. Then my second ancillary task would become a digi-pack. Whilst it was suggested that I do this a joint task with Melissa (due to the size and weight of the task), I should take on the majority of the work as Melissa is also doing the website jointly with Jennifer. Therefore, I am now compelting the two poster designs and beginning the digi-pack as soon as possible.

We were then reminded that we should be constantly updating our blogs with our contributions to the project and that our teachers would be looking over them soon. We were also reminded that our ancillary tasks are only worth 10 marks each and when compared to the 60 marks awarded for the video, our attention should really be leaning towards that at the moment. I intend to finish the ancillary tasks as soon as possible to focus more on the video, however I think the new digi-pack will take quite alot of time and effort now too.

After half-term, or possibly even during, the group is going to have another meeting to discuss collective changes to our work in order to incorporate a consistent theme.

REVIEW...

The Progress Review Approaches:
The first review date for 13E1 (my Media Studies group) has been set for Friday 18th February 2011. During this progress review session both of my teachers will check through the group's video, my blog and my ancillary tasks to offer guidance as to where I can improve and what has been done well.

As a group, we are to outline what needs to be done and who is actioning what and by what date. I don't doubt a meeting shall be scheduled where we can all sit down and discuss what we are going to do to really maximise our grades over the following ten days until the initial deadline for preliminary marking occurs on 28th February 2011.

I think alot of hours both inside and outside school are going to need to be put in to ensure my work is up to a decent standard.

Feedback...

Font Change- 'Vladamir Script' to 'Vivaldi':
During a feedback session, the need to change our current font that we use on our ancillary tasks has been highlighted. Our original choice of font was 'Vladamir Script' which I really liked as I felt that it represented our gothic hosue style well. However, when presenting our group work to our teachers, the conclusion was reached that it did not fit well the house style of our artist. Therefore, the task was assigned to Melissa to find an alternative font. The font she has chosen is: 'Vivaldi.' I now need to go back through my work and change the font type.

I am glad this issue was raised now when we have the time to act on it rather than a rushed job later.

Original font: Vladamir Script
Alternate font: Vivaldi

Editing...

The Music Video:
The editing process of the final product has now begun as the majority of filming has been completed. This process will probably take quite a significant amount of time, fortunately our production schedule has made allowances for this. Therefore, we shall all need to sift through the footage together and piece it together shot by shot.

Filming...

Nuxley Park:
Today, the group filmed at Nuxley Park. We needed a series of close up shots of Melissa singing to the camera and that is exactly what we achieved!

Below is an example of the shot we captured (close-up shot):
